Adult brit milah, also known as an adult bris or adult Jewish circumcision, is for men who did not have the opportunity as newborns. Men come to this at every age and from every background — some who grew up without the opportunity, some who came to observance later in life, some completing a conversion, some who simply were never able to have it done. Many have carried the question quietly for years, unsure who they could even ask.
You can ask me. I learned adult brit milah working alongside experienced mohalim and physicians, and I have performed more than twenty adult brit milah ceremonies. The first conversation costs nothing, commits you to nothing, and stays entirely between us.
If I had known it was this easy, I would have done it many years ago.
How it works
Four stages, no surprises
A private conversation
We speak by phone, at whatever length you need. You tell me your situation; I tell you honestly what is involved. Nothing is arranged until you are ready.
Preparation
I send you two short forms: one about your background and what brought you to this, and one about your medical history, which I go through carefully before anything is scheduled. Both forms are read only by me. What to have ready.
The procedure
In my office or a place we arrange together, during the day, under local anesthesia with proper pain management throughout. The religious requirements are carried out fully and correctly, followed by the blessing.
Recovery
You leave with clear written instructions and my own cell number. I follow up through the healing period, and I am available for any question that comes up.

Comfort and discretion
Comfort. Adult procedures are done with local anesthesia — you are not expected to endure this. Pain management is planned in advance, not improvised, and the recovery is managed carefully. I will walk you through exactly what to expect, including honestly what the first few days feel like.
Discretion, or a celebration. Your conversation with me is confidential, and if you prefer to keep it private, nothing goes further than the two of us. Many men, though, are excited to make up what they missed as a baby and want the full ceremony. The procedure itself is done in a private setting, and the blessings and the celebration can be shared with family and friends. Whichever you choose, I will arrange it.

Questions men ask first
Does it hurt?
The procedure is done under local anesthesia, so the area is numb while it is performed. Pain management for the days afterwards is planned before we begin, not improvised. I will tell you honestly what the first few days feel like.
Where and when is it done?
In my office, or at a place we arrange together. It is always done during the day, and we choose a date that suits your schedule.
How long is recovery?
Most men are back to desk work within a few days, with a longer period before strenuous activity. You leave with clear written aftercare instructions, and I give you a realistic picture for your own situation.
Is everything kept private?
Yes. Our conversations are confidential. Both of your forms are read only by me. If you prefer to keep the whole thing private, nobody else needs to know.
Can you come to me?
I travel regularly across the United States and internationally, and much of my adult work has been done away from home. Tell me where you are and we will find something that works.
Is this connected to conversion?
For some men it is, and I work with the beis din involved. For others it has nothing to do with conversion at all. Either way, you are welcome.
What if I can’t afford it?
The usual fee is $1,800–$2,000. If cost is a real obstacle for you, tell me when we speak. We can talk about it privately, and where it’s right, I can arrange a sponsor.
Can I call you after it’s done?
Yes. You get my own cell phone number, and I stay reachable through recovery and after it, for any question, however small.
