What to expect, and recovery

An honest walk-through of an adult brit milah: before, the day itself, the first days, and getting back to normal.

From first call to full recovery

1

Before

We talk it through, I go over your medical history with you, and we agree on a pain plan. You know the date, the place and what to bring.

2

The day

During the day, in my office or a place we arrange together. Local anesthesia means the area is numb while it is done. The brit is followed by the blessing.

3

The first days

Expect soreness; the pain plan is already in place. You go home with clear written aftercare instructions.

4

Back to normal

Most men are back to desk work within a few days. Heavier physical work and exercise wait longer, and we plan around your job.

You are not on your own

Recovery is where many men feel most alone. You will not be. You have my own cell number, and I check in with you through the healing period. No question is too small, and you will never be passed to an office.

If you are worried about something, call me. In an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room first, then call me.

Planning around your life

Tell me about your work and your schedule, and we will choose a date that fits. Read more about adult brit milah, what it costs, or whether it is too late.
